While you are enjoying feeding your little fish, you notice that your aquarium is getting dirty already. What you need in here is fish aquarium maintenance. Sometimes, maintaining the cleanliness of your aquarium is a bother for people who have the hobby of taking care of fish. However, this should not be this way. You should schedule yourself in cleaning the house of your favorite pet. In this way, you will find it more enjoyable also. Fish aquarium maintenance can make your fish grow healthier and make the tank achieve a nicer look. It is important for you to take note that in cleaning your tank, mostly, what you just do is a partial changing of water. If you notice your tank having too much algae, maybe you are feeding the fish too much, or it maybe overstocked, you do not frequently remove the water from your tank, you're feeding your fish with the foods, etc. or maybe combination of all the problems mentioned above. Here are the steps in fish aquarium maintenance. Step I: Developing a schedule for your aquarium maintenance. Clean the fish tank for at least one time in every week so that the dirt will not stock up for the next time that you will clean it.
Step II: Turn off fish tank's electricity. When you are cleaning the tank, it is safe for you if the electricity in the tank is turned off. Step III: Clean the fish tank. Every time you decide to clean the aquarium, it is needed to replace the 20 % of water in it. Scrape any of the algae present in the aquarium using the algae scrubber. The algae can be in the front or in the sides of your tank.
Check out also its filter media. If there's a need for cleaning, rinse it. You can use the water that was discarded earlier from the tank. Step IV: Refill the aquarium with the de-chlorinated water.
Before you add the water, put first the chemicals with its proper amount that can remove the chlorine as well as chloramines from incoming water. Add water with same temperature while you are tanking the water. Once in every week, clean the skimmer up, scrape any of the salt creep into the tank. In case, you don't have the salt water snails, you can use algae scrubber for removing any algae building in the glass. This is the way how you can maintain the cleanliness of your aquarium.
